Uma avaliação dos sistemas de encomendas automatizadas também é feita associada as necessidades de automação das bibliotecas participantes de um processo de aquisição cooperativa. São abordados os aspectos da especialização das bibliotecas e a sua evolução a um centro de informações, as estatísticas básicas de uso de acervos, para permitir o planejamento do processo aquisitivo conjunto, as condições de proximidade geográfica ou de facilidades de envio de material por empréstimo entre bibliotecas bem como a necessidade de definição e condições mínimas para uma biblioteca participar deste processo. Conclui pelo fortalecimento da catalogação cooperativa com o objetivo maior de montar um catálogo coletivo abrangente e pela necessidade de estudos para des dobramentos regionais deste catálogo como forma de criar as estruturas para implementação de um projeto de aquisição cooperativa, incluindo as normas comuns para planejamento e desenvolvimento de coleções.
